The official currency of Germany is the Euro. The Euro replaced the German Mark in 2002, and each Euro is divided into 100 cents. Euro banknotes come in denominations of 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, and 500, while coins come in denominations of 1 and 2 Euros, as well as 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, and 50 cents. Credit cards are widely accepted in Germany, although paying with credit cards is not as common as in the USA, for example.
