ATMs are widely available throughout the city, dispensing notes up to 50 Euro. Many shops and restaurants in Amsterdam accept credit cards, but not all, so it is recommended to either ask before ordering or ensure you have a sufficient amount in cash to cover the bill. The easiest way to get Euros is to get them from an ATM, which are everywhere in Amsterdam. Changing cash money is best done at a GWK branch (at the airport or Amsterdam Central Station) or bank branches of ABN Amro, Rabobank, ING, etcetera. Most ATMs work with credit cards of the Visa and MasterCard type, and debit cards that use the Maestro or Cirrus systems. Credit cards are widely accepted too, though in some small shops or hotels, there might be an extra charge (2-6%) if you pay by a credit card.
