Bill Cosby is a former American comedian, actor, and media personality who was once celebrated for his pioneering role in positive portrayals of African Americans on television, most famously through "The Cosby Show." However, starting in 2014, over 60 women accused him of various sexual offenses, including rape, drug-facilitated sexual assault, sexual battery, child sexual abuse, and sexual harassment, with allegations spanning from the mid-1960s to 2008 across multiple states and Canada. These allegations, which he has consistently denied, greatly damaged his reputation, ending his career and causing many of his honors and awards to be revoked. In 2018, he was convicted of aggravated sexual assault but was released in 2021 after the Pennsylvania Supreme Court overturned his conviction on procedural grounds. Despite the controversy, many organizations cut ties with him, and reruns of his shows were pulled from syndication.
