Bob Barker died from complications of Alzheimer's disease, according to his death certificate. He passed away on August 26, 2023, at his home in Los Angeles at the age of 99

. The death certificate also listed hypertension (high blood pressure), hypothyroidism, and hyperlipidemia (high cholesterol) as contributing factors to his death

Although it was initially reported that he died of natural causes, the official cause was Alzheimer's disease, a progressive brain disorder that causes brain cells to die and leads to severe loss of brain function, which can result in complications such as dehydration, malnutrition, or infection that ultimately cause death

. Barker had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's years before his death but never publicly discussed the condition

. His longtime companion, Nancy Burnet, noted that Barker was still able to have conversations and participate in bedside exercises until about two months before he died

. Barker's publicist stated there would be no funeral or memorial service per Barker's wishes, and he was buried next to his wife at Forest Lawn cemetery in Los Angeles
