Daedalus warned Icarus not to fly too close to the sun, as the wax in his wings would melt, and not to fly too low, as the feathers could get wet in the sea and make it hard to fly. However, Icarus was so intoxicated by the experience of flying that he did not heed his fathers warning and flew too close to the sun, causing the wax in his wings to melt and him to fall into the sea and drown.
