John Bolton, former national security adviser to President Trump, has been highly critical of Trump. Bolton has called Trump "unfit to be president" and accused him of making decisions based on personal gain rather than national interests. Bolton's stance intensified with the publication of his memoir, "The Room Where It Happened," in which he depicted Trump as an "erratic" and "stunningly uninformed leader," suggesting Trump even sought help from China for his re-election. Recently, Bolton was indicted on 18 criminal counts related to mishandling classified information, which he contends is part of Trump's retaliatory campaign to intimidate opponents. Bolton likened the Trump administration's use of the Justice Department to the secret police of Stalin's Soviet Union, asserting Trump weaponizes legal actions against those he deems enemies. Bolton emphasized the importance of dissent and disagreement in America’s constitutional system and vowed to fight to expose what he calls Trump's abuse of power.
