Stephen Fry went to prison at the age of 17 for credit card fraud. After being expelled from several schools and failing his A-levels, he stole a family friend's credit card and went on a brief spending spree across hotels and taxis, including a stay at the Ritz in London. He was caught, charged with fraud, and sentenced to three months in Pucklechurch Prison, a youth detention center in South Gloucestershire. During his incarceration, he earned the nickname "The Professor" due to his academic background and even taught his cellmate reading and writing skills. This experience was a turning point for Fry, who later decided to retake his A-levels and went on to attend Cambridge University, where his career as an actor and comedian blossomed.
