Trevone Boykin recently described a past Thanksgiving he spent at Russell Wilson’s house as “weird,” focusing on how the gathering was set up and who was (and wasn’t) there.
What Boykin Said
In a podcast clip that went viral, Boykin said that when he went to Wilson and Ciara’s home for Thanksgiving years ago, the vibe felt strange to him. He commented that, given Wilson’s money and status, he felt Wilson could have flown more of his family in, and he implied it was odd that only a small group was present instead of a big, traditional family gathering.
Reaction to His Comments
Boykin’s remarks led to heavy pushback online, including from Russell Wilson’s mother, Tammy Wilson, who publicly defended her son and called Boykin’s comments opportunistic and inappropriate. Coverage also noted that the Thanksgiving Boykin referenced was from 2016, when much of Wilson’s family was reportedly in Florida for a basketball tournament, which helps explain why fewer relatives were at the house that night.
