Bed bug bites can appear as small, flat or raised areas on the skin that may become inflamed, itchy, red, or blistered. They are often grouped together in a small area and may occur in a line or a zigzag pattern. Bed bugs can bite anywhere on the body, but they tend to target areas of the skin that make contact with the bed, such as the hands, neck, face, shoulders, legs, and arms. Bed bug bites can resemble mosquito or flea bites, with slightly swollen bumps that have a reddish bruise in the middle and itch. However, bed bug bites can also appear in tight lines of multiple, small, red marks where multiple bed bugs have fed along an exposed area. Some people may not develop any marks from a bed bug bite, while others may develop more severe symptoms, such as enlarged or swollen welts that are more painful and itchy. Bed bug bite reactions dont always appear immediately after being bitten and may take a few days to begin causing symptoms.
