Israeli soldiers wear a helmet covering called a Mitznefet). The Mitznefet is considerably larger than the helmet worn by infantry and is designed to break up the shape of the helmet and make it more difficult to spot from a distance). It is made up of a reversible mesh fabric, with one side having woodland camo paint and the other side with a brown desert paint). The covering is easily removable and can be attached to the helmet while folded). Additionally, the bulk of the covering can be pulled down to shade and protect any side of the wearers head from direct sunlight exposure). The Mitznefet is also known as a "chef hat" due to its resemblance to a chefs hat.
