Messianic Jews are a religious group that has tried to straddle the line between Judaism and Christianity. They believe in Yeshua (Jesus) as the Jewish Messiah of Israel of whom the Jewish Law and Prophets spoke. Messianic Jews include the New Testament in their canon and believe that there is foreshadowing and predictions of Jesus in the Old Testament. They believe that Jesus Christ was the Son of God and through faith in his death and resurrection, there is salvation. Messianic Jews believe that the Jews are the chosen people, and that the explicit laws of the Torah, such as observing Shabbat, holidays, and circumcision must be obeyed today. They also believe that Gods people have a responsibility to spread his name and fame to all nations. Most Messianic believers, whether Jewish or non-Jewish, can be said to oppose supersessionism, the view that the Church has replaced Israel in the mind and plans of God. All Messianic Jews hold to certain eschatological beliefs such as the End of Days, the Second Coming of Jesus as the conquering Messiah, the re-gathering of Israel, a rebuilt Third Temple, a resurrection of the dead, and many believe in the Millennial Sabbath, although some are Amillenialist.
