Silkworms turn into moths, specifically the Bombyx mori moth. The silkworm is the larva or caterpillar of the Bombyx mori moth, and it is entirely dependent on humans for survival. After hatching from eggs, silkworms eat mulberry leaves and grow for about 20-33 days before feeling the urge to cocoon. Inside the cocoon, the silkworm will moult for the last time and become a pupa before emerging as a moth. The total life-cycle of a silkworm ranges from 6-8 weeks, and the warmer the weather, the quicker the silkworm will complete its life-cycle.
