The Blue Angels are the U.S. Navys flight demonstration squadron, and they fly Boeing F/A-18 Super Hornets. They have flown the F/A-18 Hornet for 34 years from 1986 through 2020. The Blue Angels aircraft are combat aircraft, and the only modifications made to them are the removal of the nose cannon, installation of a smoke-oil tank, and installation of a spring on the stick for better formation and inverted flying. The Blue Angels support aircraft is a C-130J Super Hercules, affectionately known as "Fat Albert". The Blue Angels typically provide two backseat flights at each show site for selected personnel, and both riders fly with the Number 7 pilot in the two-seat jet.
