When painting a room, the order in which you paint can affect the final result. Here are the steps to follow:

2. Trim: Painting the trim next is the easiest way to go, as it allows you to freehand paint your trim without using painters tape. If you get some trim paint on the wall, it will just be painted over. Plus, its easier to cut in wall paint than it is to cut in paint on trim.

3. Walls: After the ceiling and trim are done, paint the walls. Carefully "cut in" with a brush around ceilings, windows, doors, outlets, light fixtures, and baseboards, then use a roller to paint the walls. Rolling into the cut line to blend is imperative so that the two different application methods (brush stroke, roller nap) meld together as much as possible.
