To obtain a Florida drivers license, you will need to bring the following documents to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) location:
- Proof of identification: An original of one of the following documents with complete name: Original birth certificate from the Bureau of Vital Statistics, a state-issued copy of your birth certificate, or a U.S. Passport.
- Proof of Social Security: An original of one of the following documents with complete Social Security Number (SSN): Social Security card, W-2 form, or paystub with full SSN.
- Proof of Florida residency: Two different documents with your Florida residential address. Acceptable documents include a deed, mortgage, monthly mortgage statement, mortgage payment booklet, residential rental/lease agreement, Florida voter registration card, or a utility bill.
- Proof of legal presence: U.S. citizens must provide proof of citizenship or legal presence. Acceptable documents include an original birth certificate, U.S. passport, or Certificate of Naturalization issued by DHS.
- Proof of name change (if applicable): If you have recently changed your name, you must update your records with the Social Security Administration before applying for a drivers license or ID card.
