A sway bar is a component of a vehicles suspension system that helps reduce body roll and sway during turns. It is also known as an anti-roll, anti-sway, stabilizer, or roll bar. A sway bar is a torsion spring that connects the left and right sides of a car together, typically attaching across the vehicles body from one wheel to the other. A sway bar works to level everything out and fight that tilting feeling you may have experienced when taking a corner too fast. Sway bars work in conjunction with a vehicles shocks, springs, and other suspension components to improve overall handling by reducing body roll. They help keep the vehicle more level and stable, improving handling and ride comfort. The number and variety of sway bars depend on the vehicle, and not every vehicle has a sway bar, but they can be extremely useful, especially for larger vehicles like RVs and motor coaches.
