Registered Nurses (RNs) are licensed nursing professionals who have either a bachelors or associate degree in nursing or have completed an RN program from a nursing school. After their educational program, they must complete the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) . RNs work in a variety of healthcare settings, including hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, schools, and home healthcare settings. They are responsible for managing and coordinating the various aspects of a patients care, assessing and monitoring patients, administering treatments and medications, educating individuals and the community about health conditions, and offering valuable advice and emotional support to patients and their families. Some of the specific tasks that RNs perform include:

• Assessing patients conditions
• Recording patients medical histories and symptoms
• Observing patients and recording their observations
• Requesting medical tests
• Making diagnoses
• Administering treatments and medications
• Coordinating with multiple specialists to ensure that their patients are adequately on the road to recovery

RNs are also responsible for educating patients about their diagnoses and treatment recommendations, helping them learn how to take care of themselves, make healthy lifestyle changes, and navigate the healthcare system. They work closely with fellow healthcare staff and physicians to ensure they know about and understand patient updates and care plans. RNs must be smart, adaptive, educated, and skilled in critical thinking. They must also have compassion, patience, and excellent communication skills to provide emotional support to patients and their families.
