iOS 16.7 is an update that provides important bug fixes and security updates and is recommended for all users. The update fixes over a dozen security vulnerabilities, including the three already exploited flaws also fixed in iOS 17.0.2. Some of the key fixes in iOS 16.7 include:

• Fixes an issue where Ask to Buy requests from children may fail to appear on the parents device
• Addresses issues where Matter-compatible thermostats could become unresponsive when paired to Apple Home
• Crash Detection optimizations on iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro models

iOS 16.7 is available for all devices that could run version 16, including older devices like the iPhone 8, iPhone X, and first-gen iPad Pro that cant be upgraded to version 17. The range of iPhones which can run iOS 16.7.1 is the same as all other versions of iOS 16, that is, all iPhones issued in late 2017 onwards. Specifically, that’s iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X and onwards. To update to iOS 16.7, users can open the Settings app, click General, then Software Update. Click Download and Install, and the device will be up to date.
