It is a smokeless tobacco product that is not burned, and it comes in flavors such as mint and wintergreen. The effects of snus are primarily due to nicotine, which is a mild stimulant. Some of the positive effects of snus and nicotine pouches include a relaxed feeling and improved concentration for a short while. However, snus has been linked to an increased risk of cancer of the oesophagus and pancreas, and possibly an increased risk of heart failure, diabetes, and cancers of the cheeks and gum. The use of snus may also increase the risks of some serious adverse health outcomes and some less serious adverse health outcomes. Therefore, while snus may be less harmful than cigarette smoking, it is not considered safe.
