Bats have several natural predators, including birds of prey, snakes, cats, crocodiles, and some mammals. Owls, hawks, and falcons are fast-flying birds that can catch bats in flight. Snakes can hang on trees or cave roofs and strike when a bat flies close by. Cats can snatch bats out of the air as they fly past. Raccoons, weasels, and minks climb into areas where bats roost and eat them while they sleep during the day. Some larger bats prey on smaller bats when they share habitat areas.
