Jiraiya dies in episode 133 of Naruto Shippuden. In this episode, Jiraiya departs Konoha for Amegakure on a mission to infiltrate the village and investigate the whereabouts of Akatsuki leader Pain. Jiraiya soon comes face-to-face with Pain and learns that the Akatsuki leader is none other than his former mentee Nagato, who he took under his wing and trained. Jiraiya and Nagato engage in a battle that results in Jiraiyas death.
