Zivas return to NCIS happened in season 16 finale. She made a surprise appearance at the top of Gibbs basement stairs and told him he was in danger. Her return was further explained in the trailer for season 17. However, her reunion with Tony happened off-screen in episode 11 of season 17, titled "Ephemera".
