John Legend is an African American singer and songwriter. On the PBS series Finding Your Roots, it was determined that Legends genetic makeup is 64% African, 32% European, and 4% Native American. Therefore, his ethnicity is African American, with ancestral roots in the Fula people of Guinea-Bissau and the Mende people. Legends parents are both African American, and he does not have Asian roots.
