To determine your eye shape, there are a few characteristics to look for. Here are some steps to follow:
- Look straight into a level mirror and take notice of how much of your moving lid and crease you see.
- Check the top of your eyelid. If there is no crease to the lid and larger lid space below the brow bone, your eyes are likely monolids. If there is a crease but it covers all or majority of the lid, this is a hooded eye.
- If you can see any white around the top or bottom of your iris when looking straight ahead, you have round eyes. Round eyes are less tapered than almond eyes and appear more open.
- If you cant see the whites of your eyes below the iris when looking straight ahead, you have almond-shaped eyes.
- If you placed a straight line across the center of your eyes, would the outer corners by your temples be above or below the line, or right on it? If your answer is above the line, you have upturned eyes. If the corners are below it, you have downturned eyes.
Its important to note that some people may have eyes that fall in between categories, and thats okay. Knowing your eye shape can help you determine which makeup looks and false eyelash styles will best enhance and frame your eyes.
