Bubblegum flavor is a combination of fruits, usually a mix of esters that smell like fruit. The recipe differs from company to company, but the generic bubblegum flavor is usually made from a unique blend of esters, which could be a “strawberry-banana-punch” mix. Some of the esters used in synthetic bubble gum flavoring may include methyl salicylate, ethyl butyrate, benzyl acetate, amyl acetate, or cinnamic aldehyde. Natural bubble gum flavoring can be produced by combining banana, pineapple, cinnamon, cloves, and wintergreen. Vanilla, cherry, lemon, and orange oil have also been suggested as ingredients. The flavor of bubblegum is pretty much every fruit, with different manufacturers making slight flavor twists with the addition of raspberry, blueberry, or tropicals such as mango, pineapple, or kiwi.
