According to the APA Style guidelines, papers should be written in a font that is legible and widely accessible. A variety of fonts are permitted, including sans serif fonts such as 11-point Calibri, 11-point Arial, or 10-point Lucida Sans Unicode, and serif fonts such as 12-point Times New Roman, 11-point Georgia, or normal (10-point) Computer Modern (the default font for LaTeX). The same font and font size should be used throughout the document, including the running head, page numbers, headings, and the reference page. Text in footnotes and figure images may be smaller and use single line spacing. Within figure images, a sans serif font with a type size between 8 and 14 points should be used. When presenting computer code, a monospace font such as 10-point Lucida Console or 10-point Courier New should be used. The footnote font might be smaller than the text font (and have different line spacing), but it is not necessary to change it.
