The form used to record the opening and closing of a security container is the SF 702 Security Container Check Sheet. This form consists of two columns on a sheet that can be folded in half, with the same information collected on both halves of the sheet. There is space to collect information about the date, time, and initials of whoever opened, closed, or checked the security container. Once the cover sheet is filled out, it should be attached to the outside of the control drawer or on the outside face of the vault door, with either tape or a magnetically-attached holder. The SF 702 is required by the DoD Information Security Program: Protection of Classified Information, DoD Manual 5200.01, Volume 3, and is used to record the names and times of persons who have opened, closed, and checked a particular container that holds classified information.
