We live in the Milky Way galaxy, which is a large barred spiral galaxy. Our solar system is located about 2/3 of the way out from the galactic center, in a feature known as the Orion Spur. The Milky Way is estimated to be made up of approximately 100 billion stars, and its diameter is about 100,000 light years. The galaxy has several satellite galaxies and is part of the Local Group of galaxies, which form part of the Virgo Supercluster, which is itself a component of the Laniakea Supercluster. The Milky Way is our cosmic home, and it is where we reside in the vast universe.
