Today in Manchester, a tragic terrorist attack occurred at the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in the Crumpsall area. The incident involved a car being deliberately driven into pedestrians, followed by a stabbing outside the synagogue. Two members of the Jewish community were killed, and three others sustained serious injuries. The attacker, identified as Jihad Al- Shamie, a 35-year-old British citizen of Syrian descent, was shot dead by Greater Manchester Police after attempting to enter the synagogue while wearing a vest resembling an explosive device. Two other individuals were arrested in connection with the attack. The incident took place on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, which heightened the shock and horror expressed by British officials and community leaders. Police and counter- terrorism units are investigating, urging the public to avoid the area while the situation is managed.
