Andrea is a character in the TV series "The Walking Dead" who was portrayed by Laurie Holden from seasons 1 through 3. Her character was also featured in the comic story, but the on-screen version differed significantly from the comic counterpart. Andrea was a survivor of the post-apocalyptic and zombie-ravaged United States, and she was a middle-aged woman who was a civil rights lawyer before the apocalypse. She was introduced in the second episode of season one, "Guts," and met her maker in season 3, "Welcome to the Tombs".
In season 3, Andrea was held captive by The Governor, who was the main reason for her demise. She was bitten by a zombified Milton, who was The Governors right-hand man, and was eventually found, still alive, by Rick, Michonne, Daryl, and others. Andrea killed herself to prevent reanimation.
Andreas role in the third season was a significant departure from the comic book series, and her actions and her relationship with The Governor, invented for the show, were criticized and garnered generally negative critiques. However, Carolyn Burke for Screen Rant ranked Andrea as the best "The Walking Dead" character, writing that she was courageous but frequently too meddlesome to be helpful.
