According to the search results, Ant and Dec are a British television presenting duo consisting of Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly from Newcastle upon Tyne. They met while working on the BBC second series of childrens drama Byker Grove in 1990 and soon became best friends. They performed together as pop musicians PJ & Duncan, the names of their characters from the series, and used the aliases Tony & Lan for their earliest TV presenting roles. They co-presented a Saturday-morning childrens show entitled Gimme 5, which was broadcast on CITV, and in 1995, they presented their own series, entitled The Ant & Dec Show.
Ant and Dec left childrens television in 2001 after trying out formats like Friends Like These for BBC One in 2000 and Slap Bang with Ant & Dec for ITV in 2001. They have also acted and both had leading roles in the 2006 film Alien Autopsy. They have their own production company, Mitre Television, and have won multiple awards for their presenting roles, including Bafta and National Television Awards.
In May 2023, it was announced that Ant and Dec would be taking a break from Saturday Night Takeaway after the 2024 series, which will be their 20th series. They will continue their exclusive working relationship with ITV, as hosts of popular shows including Im A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!, Britains Got Talent and Limitless Win. They said that reaching the "milestone" of 20 series seemed like the "perfect time to pause for a little while and catch our breath". However, less than 24 hours later, they announced their return to TV with a special behind the scenes episode of Im A Celebrity... South Africa airing on ITV.
