Arnold Schwarzenegger, the Austrian-American actor, businessman, filmmaker, former politician, and former professional bodybuilder, had a health scare related to his third open-heart surgery. The surgery was supposed to be a relatively non-invasive one to replace a heart valve, but his doctors made a mistake and poked through the heart wall, causing serious internal bleeding and forcing Schwarzenegger’s doctors to open him up quickly to save his life. The surgery took place several years ago, just before he started working on Terminator: Dark Fate, which was released in 2019. Schwarzenegger woke up after the procedure and saw his doctor, who told him the operation had not gone as planned. The actor described waking up in the hospital and doctors explaining to him that the procedure had caused unexpected internal bleeding. He was really freaking out and said, "Well great, this is really great news. I mean, Jesus". Schwarzeneggers road to recovery is chronicled in a video he shared on YouTube, including clips of him talking small steps around the hospital that would lead to longer strides. He had to exercise his lungs because of the risk posed by a potential pneumonia infection. Schwarzeneggers positive attitude and support system helped him reach his goal, and he was able to start shooting Terminator 6 three months later.
