John Bennett, a correctional officer at Litchfield Prison and a fan-favorite character in Orange Is the New Black, unexpectedly left the show in season 3. His character quit his job and left Daya after witnessing the kind of life their child would have. Bennett and Daya had a romantic relationship, which resulted in Daya becoming pregnant. By the beginning of season 3, Bennett grew concerned about his relationship with Daya’s family, particularly Cesar, her mother’s boyfriend. In the same season, he visited Cesar to get an idea of what life would be like for the baby, if it ends up with them. After that, Bennett disappeared from the show, appearing for the last time in season 3, episode 2. Later episodes confirmed that Bennett left his job, Daya, and their unborn child. The shows official explanation for his disappearance was that he left out of fear after seeing the kind of person Cesar was and how he treated the kids he was supposed to take care of. However, this theory was not confirmed by the canon of Orange Is the New Black directly.
