Big Pun, whose real name was Christopher Lee Rios, was a Puerto Rican-American rapper who became famous in the early 1990s after being discovered by fellow Bronx rapper Fat Joe. He was known for his quick-talking rhymes and his first album, "Capital Punishment," sold over a million copies and was nominated for a Grammy Award. Big Pun had health issues due to his weight, and he suffered a massive heart attack and respiratory failure on February 7, 2000, in his hotel room in White Plains, New York. He was only 28 years old and weighed nearly 700 pounds at the time of his death. Despite his untimely death, Big Puns legacy lives on, and he is still considered a legend in the hip-hop community. He is survived by his wife, Liza, and their three children.
