For much of the 25th and final season of Judge Judy, Byrds personal life revolved around attending to his wife, Makita Bond-Byrd, who was scheduled for brain surgery. Byrds wife suffered from a cancerous brain tumor, and he turned his focus to her after production wrapped in April of 2021. Fans learned that Byrd had been replaced when IMDB recently released a trailer for Judy Justice. Her new bailiff is Kevin Rasco, who Byrd says provided personal security for Sheindlin while on Judge Judy.
