Carl Grimes was a major character in The Walking Dead, portrayed by Chandler Riggs. He dies from a walker bite in season 8 of the show. In the midseason finale of season 8, Carl reveals to his father Rick that he has been bitten on the abdomen, an area that left no hope for survival. In the midseason premiere of season 8, which is also the episode where Carl dies, he pens letters to Rick, Michonne, and others, and he tells little Judith goodbye and passes on their father’s hat to her. He said goodbye to his dad and Michonne, telling her that she was his best friend. Then he selflessly ends his own life so that burden didn’t have to fall onto his dad or Michonne’s shoulders.
