In season 7 of Castle, Richard Castle was kidnapped and suffered memory loss after a black SUV crashed into his car on the way to his wedding. Beckett investigated the car crash and discovered that Castle had been kidnapped. While evidence suggested that Castle orchestrated his own kidnapping and disappearance, it was later revealed that the CIA was responsible for the abduction and took Castle to Thailand where he could help them stop a terrorist attack. The final episode of the season revealed how Castles past experience witnessing a murder inspired him to become a writer.
