CeeLo Green is an American singer, songwriter, rapper, record producer, and actor who was born Thomas DeCarlo Callaway-Burton in Atlanta. He emerged in the 1990s as part of the rap group Goodie Mob and later went solo, releasing his debut album. He achieved international success as one-half of the chart-topping duo Gnarls Barkley and also found fame as a popular TV personality, appearing as a coach on The Voice for the shows first three seasons. However, since the mid-2010s, he has been largely absent from the spotlight due to several controversies.
One of the controversies involved a felony drug case where he pleaded no contest to giving a woman ecstasy at a 2012 dinner and was sentenced to community service. He also faced backlash for his tone-deaf tweets about rape, which led to the cancellation of a reality show and several concert appearances. Despite this, he has continued to make music and released two albums in 2020, one as a solo artist and one with Goodie Mob.
