There have been several events related to Criss Angel in recent years. Here is a summary of some of them:
-
In 2017, Angel was sent to the hospital after a well-known straitjacket escape went wrong while he was dangling midair. He returned one day later to perform his Mindfreak Live! show Saturday night.
-
In 2022, Angel teamed up with Cirque du Soleil to launch "Chris Angel Believe" at the Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas. However, translating his talents into a live show proved challenging, and the initial response from critics was anything but flattering. Still, the illusionist had signed a 10-year deal with Cirque du Soleil, so he kept going. It wasnt until 2016 that the show was rebranded and updated, becoming "Mind Freak Live." This time around, the Las Vegas Sun praised Angel, writing that the show had become a visually dazzling and thrilling spectacle.
-
In October 2022, Angel permanently closed his Las Vegas magic show at Planet Hollywood after only 26 weeks.
-
In October 2022, Angel attempted a magic stunt in which the singer Ginuwine nearly drowned. Angel feared that Ginuwine "had a stroke" during the botched stunt.
-
In September 2023, Angel successfully pulled off a straightjacket stunt just 24-hours after the same trick left him hospitalized in Las Vegas show. Angel attempted an aerial trick in which he hung upside down while secured in a straitjacket during his show at the Luxor in Las Vegas. As he swayed his body in an attempt to free himself, even the audience knew something was off as he struggled to escape. Angel then lost consciousness mid-air in front of a stunned and fully packed audience before being helped down and rushed to the hospital. Angel blamed losing consciousness, which he said was a first for him, on elements beyond the show, including not eating properly, lack of sleep, and dehydration.
Therefore, it seems that Criss Angel has been involved in several magic stunts and shows, some of which have gone wrong and resulted in hospitalization. He has also closed one of his shows permanently after only 26 weeks.
