Chris Snow, the assistant general manager of the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League, died on September 30, 2023, in Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 42. He had been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in 2019 and became a prominent advocate for victims of the disease. Snows wife, Kelsie Snow, announced his death on social media, stating that he had gone into cardiac arrest after suffering a "catastrophic brain injury". Doctors did not expect him to wake up, and he was later taken off life support and his organs were donated. Snows condition had worsened, but he continued to make public appearances, throwing out the first pitch at Fenway Park before a Boston Red Sox game in 2021. Before he was a hockey executive, Snow was a journalist and covered the Red Sox for The Boston Globe, which is where he met Ms. Snow, then Kelsie Smith, in 2005.
