Chuck Todd, the host and moderator of NBCs "Meet the Press," announced on June 4, 2023, that he would step down from the show after nine years of hosting it. His final broadcast as the moderator of the show was on September 10, 2023. Todd plans to remain at NBC in a new role as chief political analyst, where he will serve as a key voice both in the field and during coverage of major events. He will also focus on long-form journalism. Kristen Welker, NBC News co-chief White House correspondent, will replace Todd as the host of "Meet the Press". Todd said that he was ready to step back in part because Welker has been "ready for this for a long time". Todd took over "Meet the Press" in September 2014, succeeding David Gregory.
