Coy Gibbs, co-owner of NASCARs Joe Gibbs Racing, died in his sleep on November 6, 2022, at the age of 49. He passed away just hours after his son, Ty Gibbs, won the NASCAR Xfinity Series championship. The cause of his death has not been announced. A moment of silence was held in his honor prior to the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race. A memorial service was held at Joe Gibbs Racing to honor Coy Gibbs.
