Dylan Veselic, a 16-year-old sophomore and captain of the Bay Village High School boys varsity lacrosse team in Ohio, tragically died from injuries sustained during a lacrosse game on May 6, 2025. During the game against Olmsted Falls, Dylan was struck at the base of the back of his head, below his helmet, while attempting to block a shot on goal. This caused a severe blunt force craniocervical injury, meaning he was hit near where his neck meets his skull. He was immediately taken to a local hospital and then transferred to another hospital for emergency surgery. Despite medical efforts, Dylan passed away two days later on May 8, 2025

. In response to his death, Bay High School's boys lacrosse team decided to cancel the remainder of the 2025 season. The community showed strong support for Dylan and his family through memorials, prayer services, and fundraising efforts. Neighbors placed lacrosse sticks on their porches as a tribute, and students left notes of support around his locker
