At the end of Stranger Things season 4, Eleven is alive, back in Hawkins, and has her powers again, but she has not fully defeated Vecna and the town is in serious danger.

Eleven’s final battle

• Eleven regains her telekinetic abilities through the Nina Project and uses them to enter Max’s mind to fight Vecna during his attack.

• She manages to disrupt Vecna’s killing of Max long enough to weaken him and help the others drive him off, but she cannot stop him from opening the massive rift that tears through Hawkins.

What happens to Max

• Max is brutally injured by Vecna, briefly dies, and this death completes the fourth sacrifice needed to crack open Hawkins, even though Eleven then uses her powers to restart Max’s heart.

• Max ends the season in a coma in the hospital with her mind seemingly “missing,” which leaves Eleven devastated and unable to find Max when she tries to reach her psychically.

Where Eleven ends up

• After the battle, Eleven reunites with Hopper, Joyce, and her friends, and they return to the ruined Hawkins, taking shelter together at the cabin and then looking out over the town.

• In the final shots, Eleven sees the Upside Down’s influence spreading across the landscape, showing that Vecna is still alive and that her fight is not over.
