Elizabeth Vargas is an American television journalist who has worked for various news organizations throughout her career. She was an anchor of ABCs television newsmagazine 20/20 and ABC News specials for 14 years before leaving at the end of 2017. Vargas has also worked as a correspondent on Good Morning America and a co-anchor for ABC World News. She is currently the lead investigative reporter/documentary anchor for A&E Networks and the host for Foxs revival of Americas Most Wanted. On January 10, 2023, it was announced that Vargas would host a new show on NewsNation, titled Elizabeth Vargas Reports, which premiered on April 3, 2023. The show features one-on-one interviews with headline makers across the country and on-the-ground reporting by NewsNation’s team of seasoned journalists. Vargas has been open about her lifelong battle with alcohol, which stemmed from anxiety rooted in her childhood. She has written a memoir about her struggles with addiction called "Between Breaths: A Memoir of Panic and Addiction".
