Frances Shea was the first wife of Reggie Kray, a notorious criminal underworld boss in London. She was born in Bethnal Green, East London, and met the Kray twins at the Regency Club in Stoke Newington, where her father ran the gambling. Frances and Reggie started a relationship in the 1960s and got married in 1965 at St. Jamess Church in Bethnal Green, despite the disapproval of Frances parents. Their marriage only lasted eight months, and Frances took her own life on June 7, 1967, at the age of 23, by overdosing on sleeping pills. An inquest concluded that she committed suicide. However, in 2002, an ex-lover and fellow con of Reggie Krays came forward to allege that Frances was actually murdered by a jealous Ronnie. After Frances death, Reggie Kray descended into a spiral of depression and excessive drinking.
