George Foreman is a former professional boxer who is also known for his successful entrepreneurship and promotion of the George Foreman Grill, which has sold more than 100 million units worldwide. Foreman retired from boxing after a loss to Jimmy Young in 1977, but then made a comeback in 1987. By 1989, he had sold his name and face for the advertising of various products, selling everything from grills to mufflers on TV. Foreman retired from boxing again in 1997, but then announced in February 2004 that he was training for one more comeback fight to demonstrate that the age of 55, like 40, is not a "death sentence". However, the bout never materialized.

In 2023, Foreman shared a story about a near-death experience he had after a boxing match with Jimmy Young. He said he was ready to go home and die, but then he had a vision of a crucified Jesus that shocked him into defeating the spirit of death. Foreman died in the dressing room that night, but he stated that God brought him back to life. This experience led him to become an ordained minister. In another interview, Foreman also shared that he had suffered a $5 million loss "on bad investments," had faced homelessness, and had gotten older and out of shape.
