On October 24, 2022, John Tavares, a Canadian professional ice hockey forward and captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs, collapsed in pain on the ice after being kneed in the head by Corey Perry of the Tampa Bay Lightning. Tavares was taken to St. Michaels Hospital and was discharged the following day, but was ruled out indefinitely with a concussion. As of October 9, 2023, there is no further information on his injury status. In a previous incident on May 20, 2021, Tavares lost his balance after a hit and went down into Perrys knee, causing him multiple injuries to his head and face.
