Jon Jones is a former UFC light heavyweight champion with a controversial personal life and past. He has been involved in several legal issues, including a hit-and-run incident in 2015 that resulted in him being stripped of his championship and suspended indefinitely by the UFC. He has also been arrested for using his gun while intoxicated in New Mexico in 2020 and for misdemeanor battery, domestic violence, and injuring or tampering with a vehicle in September 2021. Jones was detained on suspicion of domestic violence against his fiancée, Jessie Moses, but the charge was later dropped in December of the same year.
Jones has been suspended multiple times by the UFC for violating their athlete code of conduct policy. In 2018, he was stripped of the UFC light heavyweight title for the third time after testing positive for Turninabol. He has also tested positive for cocaine in the past.
Despite his legal issues, Jones is regarded by many as one of the greatest MMA fighters in the history of the sport. He returned to the octagon in January 2022 at UFC 260, beating Ciryl Gane to retain the belt.
