Jordan Loves father, Orbin Love, died by suicide from a gunshot wound on July 13, 2013, when Jordan was 14 years old. Orbin was a sergeant in the Bakersfield Police Department and had coached many of his sons sports teams. After a doctor changed his medication, Orbins behavior became abnormal, and he died by suicide a short time later. Jordan and his father were close, and Orbins death was a significant loss for him. Jordan initially struggled to process his fathers death and wanted to quit football, but his mother convinced him to keep playing. Orbin had predicted that his son would someday become a good quarterback, and Jordans success in football has fulfilled that prediction.
